Medha offsite to Uttarakhand
In early April, the Medha team headed to Medha’s first-ever offsite retreat in the mountains of Uttarakhand. The objectives of the retreat included team building, building consensus on Medha values, identifying Medha’s core strengths and reflecting as a team.
On the first evening, Medha Co-Founders Chris and Byomkesh led a session on the “Hero’s Journey”, using examples from the life of Lord Rama to illustrate how ordinary people can become heroes. The team played a game of charades to learn the steps of the journey and had a substantive conversation about how this relates to Medha’s work and to life more broadly.
On the second day, the team participated in an activity called Khoobiyon Ki Pitara. Each department considered the strengths and weaknesses of the organization and other departments, and everyone agreed that the Medha team is creative, hardworking, flexible, innovative and resourceful.
The retreat was more than just business. The team spent both afternoons in Nainital and Saat Taal outdoors, kayaking, trekking, boating, and ziplining. On the last day of the trip, the team split into groups and performed skits about Medha’s year 2017. Fun scripts and energetic acting made the evening very enjoyable.
The offsite retreat was a huge success thanks to the efforts of the People team and the rest of the team is already looking forward to next year’s plan!
