Industry exposure visit to Edelweiss Group
As part of Medha’s Life Skills Advancement Bootcamp (LAB), 13 students visited Edelweiss’ office today in Hazratganj, Lucknow. The ‘Industry Exposure Visit’ is a core component of Medha’s program, and aimed at increasing exposure and information about private sector jobs and potential career paths for youth in the region.
Edelweiss Branch Head, Ajay Singh, coordinated the visit, and together with his team introduced the students to the various products and functions of the company, shared real-life work experiences, and imparted tips and advice on how to pursue a career in the financial services industry. It was a great learning experience for the students, who had never stepped foot in one of the modern office buildings of Lucknow.
Akanksha, a 12th pass student remarked, ‘It was good to know how shares are bought and sold in the market, I am happy that everyone took time out to explain to us the work that they do. It’s only when we know about the different options that are available that we will be able to choose the one that suits us and we like.’
This visit was made possible thanks to a true partnership and collaboration between Medha, the Prerna School, and Edelweiss. It is only through these kinds of partnerships between civil society organizations, the education system, and industry that will change the ‘employability’ landscape in the country and better prepare our youth for life after school.
